Title 1  H.O.P.E

In the 2019-2020 school year,

13,308 students were identified as homeless

Title I HOPE provides educational support and eliminates barriers to school enrollment for children living in the following transitional living situations:

 o Living with friends or family due to economic hardship
 o Living in a car, park, or on the street
 o Living in a shelter
 o Living in a weekly hotel due to economic hardship

Title I HOPE also supports students who meet the criteria of an unaccompanied
youth (not in the physical custody of the parent) and who qualify as homeless.
o e.g., Student who has been asked to leave home and is on his/her own.

 

Title I HOPE services include:

o Immediate enrollment in school
o Enrollment document support (birth certificates, immunizations)
o Free breakfast and lunch at school site
o Transportation to the School of Origin
o Backpack with school supplies and toiletries
o Clothing and shoes for school
o Connection with Community Resources
